Jennifer Scott

Jennifer graduated from Arizona State University in 2006 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Spanish Language. In 2011, Jennifer received her J.D. from the Phoenix School of Law. After graduation, Jennifer moved to Boulder and is currently licensed to practice law in both Colorado and Arizona.

After moving to Colorado, Jennifer gained experience in criminal law working as an associate criminal defense attorney. She appeared in court across the state on a daily basis. Being bi-lingual was a tremendous asset as Jennifer’s clients were primarily Spanish speaking. In 2013, Jennifer began an apprenticeship at Willoughby and Associates, a premier family law firm in downtown Denver.

Jennifer joined The Burnhaw Law Firm, P.C. in August, 2014 as an associate practicing Domestic Relations and was named Partner in December, 2016. Being the middle child in a family of seven gives her the natural ability to manage difficult personalities and situations – making her an exceptional litigator and negotiator.

Jennifer handles complex dissolutions and post-decree matters, and is a source of comfort and guidance to families going through difficult times. Jennifer is sensitive to client’s needs, while still firmly managing their expectations. She has experience with domestic violence, restrictions of parenting time, and both pre-decree and post-decree relocation cases. Jennifer has a 9.4 Avvo score.

Jennifer lives in Boulder with her husband (who she met in law school) and their daughter. Jennifer enjoys hiking, gardening, and live music.
